MEET THE THERAPIST

Lucy Lopes Diaz is the director and owner of Speech Pathology of Coral Gables, Inc. She is a bilingual speech-language pathologist with over 15 years of experience treating patients with a variety of communication disorders. Lucy is licensed by the Board of Florida and has her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech Language Hearing Association. Lucy received her bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders from the University of Central Florida and her Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Florida International University.  Her passion is helping her clients meet their goals.
 
During her professional career, Lucy has had the opportunity to work with a variety of populations and disorders. Lucy has treated children with Developmental Delays, Feeding/Oral Motor Disorders, Down Syndrome, Autism, Apraxia, Language-Based Literacy Disorders, Fluency Disorders, Medically Fragile Children, and Articulation/Phonological Disorders. She received specialized training in Feeding assessment/intervention, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, Autism Spectrum Disorders, The Floortime Method and Fast ForWord, and has a great deal of knowledge and experience in early intervention.  She’s treated adults with Dysarthria, ALS, Parkinson’s, Post Stroke, and other neurological based disorders. Lucy enjoys working with individuals of all ages and their families.
 
Lucy has experience working in various settings including hospitals, schools, daycares, and homes. Additionally, she has provided lectures at the University of Miami and Keiser University on speech and language development, oral motor and dysphagia. She also supervised graduate students enrolled in the Carlos Albizu University communication disorders program.
